Ella Kanegarian-Berberian

Ella Kanegarian Berberian is an essayist, commercial copywriter, and curator whose work explores culture and social themes. Her essays and nonfiction have appeared in regional media outlets, European literary magazines, and international publications such as The Wire.

Since 2020, Ella has served as Executive Director and later as Art Director of the Yerevan Biennial Arts Foundation (YBAF). In these roles, she curated in-house exhibitions and spearheaded art projects, including virtual showcases of Martiros Sarian's works and UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Armenia. She continues to collaborate with YBAF, focusing on virtual projects that highlight Armenian culture.

With over a decade of experience in scriptwriting and co-producing social documentaries, Ella has worked with numerous regional and international companies and broadcasters, including Arte Tracks East. She is also a co-lyricist and conceptual copywriter for SAMUUM, an Armenian-American music duo addressing women’s rights in the Middle East.

In 2022, Ella began an ongoing collaboration with director and producer Katya Zolonz. Their first music video, Asel, which tells the story of Armenian women survivors from Der Zor in a single shot, won third place for its original concept at the 2023 Berlin Music Video Awards.
