Irina Ghazaryan, Co-founder and CEO of Doctor Yan, joined us to talk about how her startup simplifies the process of scheduling and managing appointments for doctors and patients in Armenia. Ghazaryan also spoke about Doctor Yan's additional initiatives, such as educating the public about specific treatment protocols and offering guidance on the recommended frequency of medical check-ups. Lastly, we discussed creating venture-backed startups for the Armenian market, and the potential for expanding these products to international markets in the future.
California Superior Court Judge Gassia Apkarian, an advisor to the Center for Truth and Justice (CFTJ), says that the forced deportation of the Armenians of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) by Azerbaijan constitutes genocide. The CFTJ, created in the aftermath of the 2020 Artsakh War, oversees the collection of firsthand testimonial evidence from survivors of war through in-depth, recorded interviews to be a living memorial to crimes against humanity, for study, education and legal action.

Former Member of the National Assembly of Turkey, Garo Paylan is in Armenia to meet with the forcibly displaced Armenians of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) who were ethnically cleansed from their ancestral homeland following a 9-month blockade and a large-scale military attack on September 19 by Azerbaijan. Paylan speaks about the need for unity as the Republic of Armenia is now facing an existential threat by both Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Sargis Karapetyan, the interim CEO of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE), joins us to discuss the tech community’s role in building a prosperous and secure future for Armenia. Karapetyan explained his vision for UATE and the role it needs to play in talent building, fostering connections in the industry and advocating for a regulatory framework under which companies in Armenia can solve hard tech problems. We also spoke about Digitec 2023’s reboot, and its emphasis on building for the local market. Lastly, Karapetyan spoke about the innovation center that UATE launched in Ijevan earlier this year, and plans for building similar innovation centers across the country.
Communications Manager and Spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Zara Amatuni, speaks to EVN Report about the work of the ICRC following the mass exodus of the indigenous Armenian population of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) after Azerbaijan's large-scale attack, the challenges facing the forcibly displaced who are now in Armenia and the fate of the missing.
Vladimir de Gmeline, a crisis director with Reporters Without Borders, is in Armenia to assess the needs of the displaced journalists from Artsakh after Azerbaijan’s large-scale attack that led to the ethnic cleansing of the entire Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. Reporters Without Borders is a global organization defending the right of every human being to have access to free and reliable information.
At 1 p.m. on September 19, Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a wide-scale attack on Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), violating the November 9, 2020, trilateral statement. A ceasefire began 24 hours later on September 20, disarming the Artsakh Defense Army and forcibly displacing almost the entire population to Armenia via the Lachin Corridor. By decree of the Artsakh president, all state institutions will be dissolved by January 1, 2024, effectively ending the "Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh)."
