Varant Meguerditchian

Varant Meguerditchian runs the Mining Legislation Reform Initiative at the AUA’s Center for Responsible Mining. He is a public affairs professional with experience across the Asia-Pacific and Europe having previously served as General Manager of Stakeholder Engagement at Australia’s national standards organization and as Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Australia. He holds a Masters in International Relations from Griffith University and a Masters of Management from Macquarie University Graduate School of Management. He is currently based in Yerevan.

Mining has a potential to play a significant role in Armenia, however current gaps in legislation and poor monitoring and assessment presents many risks.
