Cihan Erdal

Cihan Erdal is a PhD candidate at Carleton University's Department of Sociology and Anthropology. His research covers topics such as youth cultures, social movements, temporalities, collective memory, neoliberalism, citizenship education, and social justice. In 2020, Erdal won a three-year Doctoral Research Award from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). His ongoing doctoral research explores the capabilities and constraints of youth activism in Europe, specifically in Athens, Berlin, Istanbul, and Paris in the post-2008 period. He is the coordinator of the Center for Urban Youth Research in Canada and the founding director of Istanbul Youth Research in Turkey.
