Lucyann Kerry is a professor at the American University of Armenia. Although originally from the American Midwest and educated as a geologist, she has had a varied career that includes such diverse positions as managing an American public radio station and working as the public relations representative of the American civil rights leader James Forman. She trained in film production at New York University and then became one of the first, if not the first, women film producers in Washington, D.C. in the 1970s, working in political communications, feminist film and ethnographic film. She subsequently combined a professional career in media, advertising and public relations with an academic career. Since the early nineties she has worked internationally becoming one of the first Western media educators in the former Soviet Union. She has taught overseas in Lithuania, Estonia, Kazakhstan, the Middle East, the Western Pacific, Malaysia and the South Pacific. She holds a master’s degree in film from the University of Southern California Cinema School, USA, and a PhD in Film from the University of Exeter, UK, that focuses on the global creative industries. She also has a Graduate Certification in International Marketing from Boston University Brussels Business School and Post Graduate Certification in Higher Education from Middlesex University London. Outside of work she is a food enthusiast and a romance novel writer.
