Smbat Khachaturian is a former Armenian foreign service officer and his assignments abroad included five years in Egypt, followed by a two-and half-year term in Iraq. Smbat holds a BA in Oriental Studies from Yerevan State University and PgD in International Negotiations from Cairo University. He is currently pursuing an MA in Politics of Conflict and Violence at Leicester University. His research interests include the Middle East and North Africa politics and international security with a specific focus on Political Islam, Terrorism and Political Violence and Arab foreign policies.
