Stephan Astourian

Stephan Astourian, Ph.D., is the William Saroyan Director of the Armenian Studies Program at the University of California, Berkeley, and an Associate Adjunct Professor in its Department of History. He is also one of the members of the AGMI’s Scientific Council. He has published extensively on the origins of the Armenian Genocide and other topics related to modern Armenian and Caucasian history and politics. A book entitled Collective and State Violence in Turkey: The Construction of a National Identity from Empire to Nation-State, which he edited with Dr. Raymond Kévorkian, will be published in August.
